Abstract

Alnus acuminata H.B.K spp acuminata is forest specie with a rapid growth, associated with nitrogen fixing organisms and plenty of ecological advantages. It has a great potential among forest trees. In spite of its utilities, there is not knowledge about the genetic variability present among natural populations and in established plantations. In this article, twenty four Alder tree accessions were evaluated, they belonged to two selected progenies, from two provenances known as Caldas and Nariño, localities where the selection of plus trees was realized and seeds were collected, and a natural population from Huila. With the Dice`s diversity index, three clusters were obtained, showing a clear separation between Caldas and Nariño progenies, the native population from Huila showed major genetic distances.
