Abstract

Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, filamentous bacteria that produce nonfragmenting, branched vegetative hyphae. Short chains of cylindrical shape, nonmotile spores, and globose bodies arise from the substrate mycelium. Cream to light yellow substrate mycelium is produced but soluble pigments are not reported. Catalase positive and urease negative. Grows between 20–37°C, at pH 6–9, and on media supplemented with 1% NaCl (w/v). Chemoorganotrophic. The diagnostic cell wall amino acid is meso-DAP and MK-10(H4) is the major menaquinone. The genome size is 7.69 Mb and the G + C content of the type strain is 64.4%.The genus Catelliglobosispora comprises only one species, C. koreensis, and is phylogenetically related to the genera Allocatelliglobosispora, Allorhizocola, Catellatospora, Hamadaea, and Rhizocola; all members of the family Micromonosporaceae
