Abstract
Dissemination activities have become the best tool to show female scientific references to younger girls, but it is necessary to take into account the roles that are presented to them. This work analyzes the female presence in the four main geological dissemination initiatives in Spain: “Geolodía”, Geology Olympiads, “Geocharlas” and “Apadrina una Roca”. In the last 15 years, they have managed to show thousands of children under 18 years of age, on an equal basis, the importance of geology and the conservation of geological heritage, making visible the work of female geologists so that girls consider converting the Earth Sciences in their future profession. However, the roles acquired by female scientists and pre-university teachers in these initiatives reflect the biases acquired from the academic field: managers, companions, speakers or monitors, with their role as leaders or public coordinators of the activities being very limited. This preference for carrying out less relevant tasks or for remaining invisible on many occasions could be solved by creating safe spaces and support networks among the professionals who participate in these initiatives, thus ensuring that they acquire roles of greater responsibility in a public manner. In this way, the full inclusion of women and girls in the geological sciences can be achieved
