Resum

Struvite (Mg NH4 PO4. 6H2O) and newberyite (Mg HPO4. 3H2O) crystals have been obtained by applying the technique of crystal growth in silica gel and using the variants of active and non-active gel. On the basis of the initial experimental conditions (technique variant, reagents used and initial pH of the gel) their conditions of precipitation and growth are described: initial time of formation, position inside the crystallisers and morphologies they exhibit. A study will be made of the relationship observed between both phases and habit modifications they show during the experiments. These are caused by the variation of the initial experimental conditions due to the transport mechanism of the reagents occuring in the interior of the gel and the chemical reactions which take place.
