Abstract

This thesis attempt to analyze and understand the consequences of the implementation of the Francoist military justice in the province of Badajoz, through the study of the legislative body employee and procedural form used by military tribunals such as courts martial, between 1937, the beginning of imposition of this repressive legislation in this country, and 1950. Beginning with a general outlook about the military legal system in force during the period of Spanish Civil War and postwar, we explore the consequences of the repressive practices of courts-martial in each of the regions of the Badajoz province. This investigation analyzes the impact on the population produced this phenomenon through each of the different modes of verdicts: death sentences, imprisonment and acquittal, as well as other issues such as the procedural characteristics of the accused population, the charged crimes and socioeconomic characteristics of the people judged.
