Zusammenfassung

The functional dependence is a multidisciplinary field of research which has experience a volume increase in literature. Despite the recent approval of Law 39/2006, December 14, to promote personal autonomy and care for people in situation of dependency, has given an impetus to the social services of the public administrations; there is a lack of a greater volume of studies related to this. Depth in this area will allow not only a better knowledge of this population, but also it could result in a more effective attention and management by the professionals involved. This research analyses functional performance, social resources, quality of life and anticipatory cognitions of people in situation of dependency in Extremadura region. The review of the literature reveals that there is currently no previous research showing the confluence of all these variables. Therefore, this study tries to integrate them from an approach where they are examined from an overall perspective. For this purpose, a descriptive and analytical investigation was carried out with a total of 188 users in situation of functional dependence. The selection was carried out by a non-probabilistic sampling of convenience. Our results confirm some of the hypotheses and these suggest that in the scope of Law 39/2006, of December 14, the user has to be studied from a global perspective, involving variables such as quality of life and emotional aspects.
