In this research various factors involved in the process of labor insertion of university graduates are described, although prominently perceptions of a sample of graduates from the University of Extremadura (UEx) are analyzed. The purpose is to analyze various psychosocial aspects involved in the transition from university to the labor market to subsequently make proposals to improve the training and career counseling in the university context to promote employability of university graduates. Various intervening psychosocial variables are analyzed in the process of job search and job placement as: work expectations, perceived employability, self-efficacy, work attitudes, engagement, or psychological well-being, among others. The study has two parts, the first is a theoretical and empirical foundation which provides the framework of the second part, where a survey is conducted on a sample of graduates in the degrees offered at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration from the UEx, between 2009 and 2015. The issues raised by the study are referred to the last stage of studies and early incorporation into the labor market, exploring from their perception of business practices made, their job search process and their current employment status, among others. The results suggest the need to incorporate psychosocial constructs (motivation, attribution, attitudes, etc.) in the curriculum of university education; This will improve the processes of guidance and training for employment and self-employment within the UEx, and consequently the quality of interventions aimed at the employability of university graduates.
