Objective: To censor the Italians madonnari. Subdivide them by region, sex, age, level of education, etc. Understand how a popular tradition such as madonnaro art has been perpetuated. To promote the acquisition of new skills in the protection of the artistic heritage and iconology. Understand how an art like madonnaro has turned into street art. Method:. The survey was conducted by following three steps: by retrieving historical data of this tradition, specifically those relating to the Italian folk tradition. Noting with a questionnaire addressed to the active madonnari, data to define the figure of madonnaro in an empirical way. Examining the interviews dedicated to madonnari. Results:.Many of my hypotheses have been corroborated by my own research. I can now say with scientific certainty that the Italian madonnaro has very specific characteristics that in some cases have been maintained and in others cases have turned into street art. Conclusion:At the end of my research I can say I completely confirmed the initial hypothesis and have added some very important pieces to understand the reasons why madonnaro art and its perception have been modified. I have also been able to add certainties to my research, thanks to the historical research carried out.
