Abstract

We decided to start this research due to the lack of resources to measure Activities of Daily Living in children between 3 and 12 years, especially in children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders diagnosis: Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Motor Disorders, Specific Learning Disorders, Communication Disorders and others. Existing tools to measure functional performance in activities like Eating - Feeding, Personal hygiene and grooming and Dressing are not specific for this population. Besides, recent research warns us to keep in our minds the importance of Executive Function and Sensory Processing, decisive for the correct development of our abilities in an adaptive manner. For those reasons, we decided to starup to create a valid tool that help us to categorize the autonomy abilities or Activities of Daily Living. We have created a standard scale for children with typical development, trying to set the foundations to measure children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders diagnosis. We have paid special attention to Autism Spectrum Disorder children, due to its importance: last data estimate 1 case for every/68 population.
