Abstract

Research in the Closed-Loop Supply Chain (CLSC) area has been developed from engineering and operations management fields and has been focused on operational and tactics decisions. Nowadays, there exists a wide consensus about the existence of a great amount of research gaps in the CLSC area in general and, particularly, in the remanufacturing field, which need to be further studied from a strategic perspective; especially, those aspects related to the commercialization of the remanufactured products. The knowledge about the presence of consumers interested in the acquisition of this kind of products and the ability to develop and maintain a long-term client group is essential in order to achieve a suitable management of remanufacturing systems. To this end, this research proposes an explanatory model of the purchase behaviour of the potential consumer of the remanufactured laptops, with the aim of developing a framework to guide enterprises in the sector in the design and implementation of more suitable marketing strategies to the commercialization of their remanufactured products. The results confirm the existence of a specific segment of consumers, with several common characteristics, who are willing to buy this type of products and the presence of certain variables which influence on their purchase intention.
