Resum

In todays world, knowledge management is a one of the key issues in searching, processing, and retrieving information according to users needs. It is especially important in on line educational systems, such as e-learning, where it is possible to access large quantity of information that is not always very relevant for users. As a consequence of semantic web, information management for e-learning systems is changing. No doubt, an important contribution from computer science to knowledge management and e-learning systems is the learning object (LO) concept. This element is characterized by an independent unit, which is able to be reused for other educational situations and platforms. In order to manage LOs without interoperability problems, specifications and standards are in development. However, the ability to interchange learning objects is not synonymous with high quality results. Research about quality LOs is a topic that has had limited focus and there are only a few published works dealing with their quality design. On this basis, our proposal is comprised of a system to manage quality LOs for e-learning systems in order to obtain educational and technical LOs that can receive continuous feedback to ensure their quality. Within knowledge management systems it is important to define what and how to manage. Therefore, we define the type of LOs we are managing and the evaluation process considering different kind of LO evaluation during the process (context, input, process and product). To achieve this we suggest different kinds of quality criteria, instruments and evaluation strategies, as well as the participants, in order to evaluate LOs. Our proposal is directed to educational and technical issues as well as LOs metadata. On this basis, we suggest how to add suitable information into some metadata categories. In order to promote consistent quality LOs, we take into account experts participation according to the OA subject, interface design and metadata. Finally, we suggest users participation for LO evaluation. As a result, the user will have the opportunity to evaluate the LO during and after the interaction process. To achieve this, students have to answer questions about their content quality and their satisfaction levels. This way it is possible to make adjustments in order to improve the LO quality. All information obtained from the evaluation may be given to experts and teachers to advance content design and to guarantee a continuous quality content re-feed.
