Abstract

Microfinance in Latin America have been developed in many different and can see that some countries internationally positioned between the more developed markets while in others the opposite is true. The regulation of microfinance in this region similar carcaterísticas. Given the paucity of analysis on these frameworks and their implications in their respective markets have performed a comprehensive analysis of the legal frameworks applicable to the sector in 17 countries in the region to identify their features and main differences, explicit and implicit goals and obtain a overview of configuration. We have also applied econometric techniques to attempt to better understand the link between these particular policy designs and their respective markets. So we've analyzed briefly the basics of microfinance, its reality in Latin America and the principles and guidelines for the regulation of the sector. Then we performed the analysis of microfinance markets, macroeconomic and policy frameworks contexts applicable to the 17 countries of the region to assess them finally compared and examine their implications in the development of their markets.
