Abstract

In this paper, the Pirie-Kieren model is used to analyze the work of two university students, while they are solving a task in which they have to determine the convergence of two numerical series. During the process, the students use the mechanism called �collecting�, a type of folding back, to invoke their previous knowledge. This mechanism appears twice along the task resolution.
