Abstract
This article explores, first, the relationship between economic growth and industrial and technological policies from a theoretical perspective (section 1), second, the incorporation of the Spanish to the mass production economy and (section 2), third, the emergence of ICTs also in Spain (section 3). The article concludes with the idea that technological and industrial policy has enabled the modernization of the economy, especially those based on ICTs (section 4, conclusions).
