Résumé
The aim of this article is to explain the birth and final death of the Scientific College of the Salamanca University. This establishment tried to reunite the remains of the Ancient Mayor and Minor Colleges of the Salamanca University, then very scarce and scattered, to pay attention to poor students. The changes fostered by the moderate liberal legislation, well symbolized in the Pidal Decree of 1845, and the need of financing the new Instituto de Segunda Enseñanza, precipitate the announced death of the Scientific College. The college-like model of the Ancient Regimen was not possible any longer.
