Abstract

We present in this article both a transcription and a literary analysis of a carol entitled Ay de mí! It was written in 1722 by Antonio Yanguas (1682- 1754) who worked in Salamanca from 1718 until his death. He was Chapel Master at the Cathedral and Chairman of Music at Salamanca University. In this short essay, we recover the manuscript and analyze it, taking into account its double aspect as a literary and musical piece of art. We think we had to do it this way to prevent breaking the internal unity with which it was created but also to follow the new metodological approach of interdisciplinary analysis which has barely been explored. This double perspective (literary and musical) has been fascinating and fruitful.
