Abstract

With the purpose of analysing the association between affective relationships and sexual satisfaction, seventy one couples completed three different forms adapted from Rubin's Love Scale (1970, 1973), as well as the LoPiccolo and Steger's Sexual Interaction Inventory (1974). The findings suggest that, for couples without children, women's feelings of intimacy (trust, care which she perceives in man) and the affective dependency perceived by men in their mates, are the dimensions which show the strongest association with sexual satisfaction. Among couples with children the most important aspect which deals with sexual satisfaction is the way men perceive and experience affective relationships.
