Resum
In this paper, some factors characterising the most advanced companies in the implementation of lean purchasing are identified. Some approaches and terminology used to describe co-operative supplier-buyer relationships is critically examined and an explicative model of lean purchasing is proposed. Its implementation is measured on a sample of 152 manufactures and it is found that the most advanced companies tend to develop a particular organisational structure, to have productive plants and subsidiaries in other countries, to greatly depend on their purchases, to sell their products to lean producers and to be considerably large.
