Abstract
The present work analyzed the processes of development and rupture of group psychological contract. These processes are linked to group self-regulatory processes such as judgment of group efficacy, commitment, satisfaction, goals and group expectations. More deeply, the effect of the development and rupture of group psychological contract on regulatory processes and performance was analyzed. The experimental design was developed to compare the self-regulatory processes at the individual (66 participants) and the group level (43 groups, 129 participants) before the development and after the rupture of the psychological contract. The rupture took place when participants had received a negative feedback for their achievement. Results showed that in the first phases, when group psychological contract and norms are created, groups developed stronger self-regulating processes and also outperformed participants in the individual condition. However, before a continuous negative feedback, which is associated to the rupture of group contract, participants in the individual condition showed a higher confidence on their abilities to perform the task in the future.
