Abstract
U-Pb dating of zircons from ryolites intercalated within the Narcea Antiform Neoproterozoic rocks was performed by laser ablation ICP-MS). The age of the ryolite is 559±3 Ma which allows the separation of two different units within the previously established Tineo Series. It is suggested that a terrane-transfer related pull-apart environment could have been the ideal setting for the genesis of these rocks in accordance with previously proposed models for the Neoproterozoic evolution of this region.
