Abstract
In recent years, we have noticed increasing interest in analysing the nature of aggressive behaviours that occur in romantic relationships of some adolescents: this knowledge is necessary in order to design effective preventive programs. In this context, this instrumental study was made with a sample of 572 participants between 15 and 19 years old, with the purpose of examining the reliability and validity of the Spanish version of the Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory (CADRI); this is a self-report measure which was designed to assess five types of intimate violence in adolescent dating relationships: sexual abuse, relational abuse, verbal or emotional abuse, threatening behaviour and physical abuse. The results showed that Threatening behaviour is the only one factor that is not valid in our context and also that the reliability indices for the different subscales and factors are quite similar to the original instrument, although the internal consistence of any of them are not very high. Finally, we conclude that the CADRI Spanish version seen to be reliably and valid overall, but it is recommended that some items should be changed in order to improve its psychometric properties.
