Abstract

Socialization agents are those responsible for transmitting norms, values and behaviour models, and among them, the family is the most important, not only because it is the first to act, but also because it is the link between the individual and society. It is the family which socializes the child by allowing him/her to internalize the basic elements of culture and to develop the bases for his/her personality. Every family socializes the child according to its particular way of life, which is influenced by the social, economic and historical situation of the society it belongs to. Three styles of interaction between parents and cildren have been delineated that may be related to the development of pro-social behaviour: dictator-like, authoritarian and permissive.
