Abstract

In recent years we have witnessed the incorporation of the physiotherapist in charge of the education of young people who are beginning a career in sports. The role of Physiotherapy in this context centres on the teaching and learning of the sociologic-physiologic and sports aspects of athlete's daily life, such as the prevention of injuries, measures for muscular recovery, the active rest, etc., that affect the final sports perfomance both directly and indirectly. A description is presented of the training program developed in a group of young athletes aged 11-16, with the aid of the Federación Territorial de Atletismo de Castilla y León and Junta de Castilla y León.
