Resum

The most frequently–used formal schemes in Martial’s Epigrams are repeated in ―Topographical compositions‖, the second part of Francisco Brines’ Not Yet. These schemes, however, are altered and reformed – Brines’ personal way of assuming the tradition of satirical poetry that goes back to antiquity. The tradi-cional targets of Roman satire reappear here, adapted to the interests of the poet and his inspiration in the present age. Although at first glance these satiric poems may seem out of place in the context of a book as elegiac as this one, Brines is clearly able to use Horatian irony to link them to the preceding poems in the book.
