Abstract

Phoniatrics Unit of the Hospital Virgen de la Concha has been running since 1992�]93. It consists of a medical language therapist, a speech therapist and an auxiliary reference.The relationship with the ENT service is narrow and very fluid. In the year 2009 in the Unit responded to a total of 1563 patients, of whom 776 were referred for various services such as ENT, Neurology, Primary Care, Pediatrics etc ... for assessment and 787 were revisions of previously diagnosed patients in the office of Phonology. The total number of patients suffering from vocal problems (new + revisions) totaled 852, and the number of patients suffering from other diseases such as aphasia, impaired language development, stuttering, hearing loss etc. 711. Patients who started speech therapy rehabilitation in that year were 224 (14, 33% of cases handled in speech therapy). The high activity granted medical speech therapy were 228 patients of which 50 dropped out voluntarily for various reasons of a personal nature. In this communication is a breakdown of the type of voice pathologies that have been sent to assess and professionals who have requested services that benefit the Speech Therapy Unit of the Complex Care of Zamora.
