Abstract
Glee (Fox: 2009-) became one of the biggest television events last season, endorsed both by audience success (9,772 million viewers on average in the first season and a special relevance in demographics) and criticism (winner of three Emmys and a Golden Globe, among other awards). The aim of this paper is to analyze the series from the perspective of the representation of difference as a series hallmark and a plot engine. From the characters point of view, the contents, the aesthetics and the narrative style, the article points out the issues that make Glee a paradoxical mixture of popular culture and unpopular characters. Firstly, the paper points out the key features of this teen musical comedy. Secondly, it studies its camp sensibility and, finally, it abounds with the academic concept of queer within this television fiction.
