Abstract
The foundation of universities was the ultimate realization of the educational work of Spain in America, unique in the history of culture. The Hispanic college phenomenon began, and continued, hurriedly, when no action was over conquest. The year of 1538 represents the dawn of the history of Latin American universities, when you put the first stone of the institution in Santo Domingo, Spanish Island, the first stage of cultural transplantation of Spain to the Indies, or rather of cultural symbiosis of Spain and America. And this cultural endeavor founding universities of Spain in America does not end until 1812, with the latter founded by the Spanish government in Nicaragua, by the Cortes of Cadiz. Spain established some thirty universities in India during the period of their rule, generally relying on the initiative and support of the Church. This work and contributions are very significant and we must underline them objectively. In this paper tries to establish so brief, but accurate, the projection of the University of Salamanca in Latin America through the founding of the first American universities.
