Resum

Archaeoseismology is a multidisciplinary technique used to study historical earthquakes by means of archaeological sites and cultural heritage. The inclusion of estructural geological analysis in the study of seismic deformations of cultural heritage can reveal the origin of such deformations and provide an indication of how the heritage will behave in the future. Archaeoseismology can also add new data to seismic catalogues through unregistered earthquakes. The modelling of Earthquake Archaeological Effects (EAEs) is applicable to teaching, using simple scale models in the laboratory. Archaeoseismology is an appropriate tool for use in earthquake prevention affecting cultural heritage.
