Abstract

A study was made in old fields located in the "Arribes del Duero" (Central Western Spain) of the recovery of subserial shrub communities on the basis of two models of territorial use: The peniflats -dedicated above all to cereal cultivationand the "arribe" model, with a predominance of vine, olive and almond cultivation on terraces built on pronounced slopes. Ordination analysis points to the superimposition due to the impact of human activity, based on oligotrophy-eutrophy gradients, which predominates over the effects of bioclimatic factors.
