Valoración de la calidad de vida y la funcionalidad en personas con espondilitis anquilosante

Resum

Background: Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease the spine, pelvis and chest are affected into evolution. Important functional implications and the quality of life (QoL) are affected. Aim: Evaluate the QoL and functional capacity (FC) in people with AS. Material and method: Cross sectional study was performed with 20 patients over 18 years, both genders and white race, were recruited from the AS Salamanca Association for a cross-sectional study. The Spanish version of the SF-36 was used for analyze the QoL and the Spanish version of the BASFI was utilized for analyzed the functionality. Results: A significant decrease in QoL and functionality were observed. Significant correlations between QoL and functionality with current age, diagnosis age and evidential diagnosis retardation were observed. No significant differences between QoL, gender, number of exacerbations and HLA-B27 presence were found. Conclusion: The QoL and functional capacity in people who suffer Ankylosing Spondylitis were affected. Further studies in therapeutic treatments are needed in order to improve the QoL and FC with a view to decrease the impact of this disease both patients, relatives and society.
