Abstract
A study was carried out on the chemical and textural composition of different pastures soils of the N-W zone of the province of Salamanca (Spain) grouped into 5 physionomic units according to the erosiontransport-sedimentation along the thalweg. The results, expressed in a texture diagram, were subjected to analysis of the principal components. Differentiation, though with poorly defined limits, was observed in the preestablished units. A study was made of the variation margins between which the valúes of the variables studied ranged and the characterization of each unit was established. Those variables which best defined such a characterization were the 4 granulometric fractions and CaO, N and organic matter contents.
