Abstract
The Council of Ministers of the European Union (EU) recently approved the budget of the IVth Framework Programme for the 1994-1998 period, while some projects of the IIIrd Framework Programme, which is now in its final stages, are still in force. This article summarises some aspects of the impact that the IInd Framework Programme (1987-1991) had on the Spanish science and technology system.
