Abstract

This paper aims at investigating the bilingual lexicon structure from a reading and writing semantic priming experiment with bilinguals, Spanish natives and proficiency English as second language speakers. The reading in L1 or L2 has an influence on later L1 or L2 vocabulary production and also, in the lexical availability of evoked words. Results show a manifest disparity between categories and a prevalence of an intra-language over inter-language priming. These outcomes are interpreted in the light of Kroll and Stewart’s Revised Hierarchical Model (1994).
