Abstract

This paper investigates the different constructive phases of the church of Santiago, in the Jesuit college of Arévalo (Ávila, Spain), which began under the patronage of D. Hernán Tello, in the late sixteenth century. The temple was completed in four phases, chronologically differentiated, in one of which has been discovered the authorship of the Jesuit architect Pedro Mato, who designed the trace of the church in the midseventeenth century. This work has also demonstrated for the first time the participation of the architect Francisco Cillero in the cloister of the college.
