Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the colimenses college athletes’ psychological profile and examine if significant differences exist between individual and collective practitioners modes. Similarly, we aim to find risk profiles for athletes. It is a cross-sectional study, based on a non-probabilistic sample of 122 Pre-graduate students of Physical Education and Sports of the University of Colima in Mexico. The measuring instrument used was “Características Psicológicas Relacionadas con el Rendimiento Deportivo” (CPRD) or “Psychological Characteristics Related to the Sporting Performance” questionnaire in the adapted version for Mexican athletes. The questionnaire measures out stress management, motivation, team cohesion, influence of the evaluation of performance and mental ability. Among the main findings were found seven risk profiles ordered according to gradient needs of intervention by the definition of breakpoints for all and each of the subscales. It was found that almost 40% of athletes are in a risk profile, of which 6.6% were in the lower profile, and 4.1% in the highest risk profile
