Abstract
Age estimation contributes to human identification. Exist differents biochemicals methods like amino acid racemization or radiocarbon 14. Aspartic acid racemization allows to establish a relationship between the enantiomers of L / D acid that could be used to estimate death age with a margin of ± 3 years. This method is more certain than morphological study in age estimation. Aspartic acid is the best choice to the establish racemization ratio because is the first to racemize and in greater quantity. In this review of the literature, it is estimated the usefulness of aspartic acid racemization in age estimation in human remains, as well as the various methods and procedures for obtaining this aminoacid.
