Abstract

In this article, I analyze the characteristics of the so called “postsecular society”, from the concepts of “secularization” and “postsecularism”, and also through the concept of “denomination”, applied to Catholic Church. Then, I set out some difficulties relative to the politic inclusion of Church in plural democracies. To do this, I use the public deliberation’s theory of Jürgen Habermas and their possibilities for the inclusion of the religious discourse. On other hand, I analyze the concept of democracy as “political struggle”, based on the categories of agonism and antagonism of Chantal Mouffe. Finally, I draw some conclusions on the role of rationality and universalism.
