Abstract

The Pedagogical Museum at Otones de Benjumea (Segovia, Spain) is an initiative for the recovery and broadcasting of the educational rural patrimony, developed and carried out under the shelter of the cultural association El Corralón in the aforementioned place. This project, hosted at the place the last school occupied, conveniently enlarged and refurbished, gathers and shows the past of the rural school from approximately mid 19th century to almost nowadays. Its collection is made up of more than 20000 instruction materials which provide us with information about the teaching methods, the books and didactic resources used to learn, the games and toys used, and about other aspects related to the processes of school culture. Its birth in 1996 makes it a pioneering experience in Castille and Leon, and one of the few that exist nowadays. It is worth mentioning that this collective proposal has been already visited by more than 40000 people, what also guarantees its citizenship utility.
