Résumé

The Caños spring, located in Vizcaínos, in the sierra de la Demanda, is the main water supply for the city of Salas de los Infantes. Since 2013 the spring has turbidity problems. A detailed geological mapping and an electrical resistivity tomography have revealed that the spring occurs on a reverse fault, which puts in contact the limestones of the marine Jurassic and the conglomerates of the Señora de Brezales Fm. The clear waters in the catchment streams suggest that the origin of the turbidity locates in the Jurassic marine limestone aquifer. Turbidity would be produced by remotion of marls that are transported as suspended load. The increase in turbidity relates to high precipitation periods. It is interpreted that collapses within the karstic conduits, developed on the marls unit, have provoked the turbidity problems.
