Abstract

Objective: our propose was to conduct a prospective cross-sectional observational study with non-probabilistic sampling of accidental allocation in patients with cancer suffering lymphedema in upper limb and to analyze lymphedema influence on the performance of daily life activities, a nd other variables like joint balance and pain. Methods:data collection has been realized with the SPSS v-23 program using the contrast statistics, Kruskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney U and Spearman coefficient, like qualitative measure percentage. Results:the majority of patients who presented this pathology were women with breast cancer, whose choice treatment was chemotherapy surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy. The moment of appearance of lymphedema was late and the volume was slight. The majority of those studied make a manual lymphatic drainage, and the perception of their physical appearance was negative. Patients were in stages 0 and 1 of lymphedema. Conclusion:we can define pain and joint balance were limiting factors in the performance of activities of daily living and the stage of lymphedema did not determinate the functionality of shoulder .
