Abstract

The texts of medicine written in Romance language that came out during the Renaissance period weren’t little in number. In spite of it, until relative recent times, it hasn’t been given a lot of attention to them, especially in relation with the linguistic aspects as, for example, which the main mechanisms used by the authors of these texts to transmit the main medical ideas are. These mechanisms changed according to the specific role of each text, its content and receiver, as well as the interests and motivations of those who produced it. We take care of it in this paper, based on the analysis of the divulgative and instructive texts of the Castilian Renaissance Medicine.
