Résumé

Absence of standardization in the researcher's signature has serious consequences in the process of scientific communication on fundamental aspects such as attribution of authorship, recovery of information, visibility of authors and institutions or measurement and evaluation of science by means of statistics and bibliometric indicators. The objective of this text is to make the authors aware of the transcendence of the construction of a unique bibliographic identity. Method: On the basis of a revision work, criteria dictated by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) for the standardization of the scientific signature and the affiliation data of the authors are reinforced. Some guidelines to solve the particularities derived from the hispanic onomastic system are also provided. A reflection on the role of the director of the journal and the manager responsible for the databases is carried out, proposing a series of recommendations aimed at facilitating the standardization of signatures. Ultimately, the Digital Author Identifiers are introduced as a method for the unequivocal identification of the authors. Conclusions: The construction of the unique bibliographic identity consists of three stages: the election, the standardization and the unification of the scientific signature. It is a process in which the three key subjects in scientific communication must necessarily participate, that is, authors, journal editors and managers responsible for the databases
