Abstract

This article is a summary of the doctoral thesis developed on the situation of SDI with respect to the third dimension, addressing future research lines and analyzing their needs and weaknesses. The analysis of surveys and interviews with prestigious specialists in this field show the need to promote research and technological development in the field of 3D SDI and the services that should accompany them. Finally, the necessary elements are defined to be able to implement a three-dimensional SDI, taking into account all the development parameters, both technical and legal, necessary to comply with the current technological, regulatory, hierarchical and legal frameworks. Through the work developed, the existence of a large number of initiatives is shown, which on an experimental basis have emerged to solve the shortcomings in the management and publication of three-dimensional IG. It has been found that, in general, the adaptation of the third dimension by the IDE is in the germinal phase, with many possibilities of advancement and scientific and technological contributions.
