Abstract

This paper provides an integrate d study of both work and life of the architect Francisco Cillero, largely based on unpublished documentary sources. Although part of his work had already been described by other authors, this study reveals new works and systematizes his professional career , therefore allowing his production to be more accurately assessed. Born in Madrid and educated in the familiar environment, he early moved to Ávila where he held the position of Senior Master of Works of its bishopric, which would take him to work both in the capital and in its province. He also worked in other provinces of Castile and León, such as Valladolid, Salamanca or Zamora, sometimes in collaboration with top - level architects such as Juan Gómez de Mora or Pedro Mato .
