Resumen

The tungsten skarn of Los Santos is situated in the Central Iberian Zone of the Hesperic Massif, 50 km south of Salamanca (Spain). It is a reduced Mg-skarn that replaces the Tamames Limestone Formation (Lower Cambrian) at the contact of Los Santos-Valdelacasa granitic Complex, a biotitic granite ± cordierite situated at the north border o f the Spanish Central System. There are two stages of mineralization. At the early anhydrous stage, of higher temperature, the main minerals are hedenbergite, scheelite, arsenopyrite and pyrite. The second stage zones cut across the early metasomatic stage zones and are formed by hydrous silicates, sulfides and sulfosalts.
