Resumen

In this paper a preliminary study of the geological and mineralogical characteristic of Mina Dominica (Salamanca) Sn-Au deposit is presented. Ore occurs in hydraulic breccias, vein swarms and disseminations, grouped in three structures striking E-W and another one NW-SE, hosted by banded slates and feldespatic quartzites belonging to Schist and Greywacke Complex. Veins'gangue and breccias'cement are constituted by quartz, carbonate (siderite), feldspar and chlorite. Metallic mineral assemblage is characterised by the association of cassiterite with sulphides, mostly arsenopyrite and pyrite with minor stannite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena and Pb-Bi sulphosalts. Occasionally native Bi and Au are included in arsenopyrite. Formation of this hidrothermal Sn-Au deposit are explained in terms of mineralization in a trap located in an anticlinal fold hinge. Possible source of metals could be black slates with sulphides and calcosilicate rocks present in surrounding areas. Sulphur and metals would be removilizated during main stage of regional metamorphism.
