Resum

The development of the art press was one of the most interesting contributions that the Spain of Isabel II realized to the scope of the nineteenth-century historiography. Whether they were encyclopedic magazines aimed at the general public or more specialized journals dedicated to an artistic minority, the work done by both was of enormous importance to publicize to the Spanish society the main monuments of the nation. In this research we analyze the descriptions of the property heritage of the city of Salamanca, then plunged into a deep decay, which saw the light in the nineteenth-century magazines that we have consulted and collated. As we have seen, those nostalgic articles acted as a catalyst in order to the Government and relevant authorities take action on the matter and bring back to Salamanca its former glory, that the deterioration of its monuments has made little more than a shadow.
