Résumé
The article is a research based on primary sources studying the developments and vicissitudes of the Spanish nation-building process in the local scope of Salamanca, from the closing stages of 18th. century to the end of the Peninsular War. As a point of departure, it explores some identity manifestations displayed in Salamanca during the so-called late Enlightenment, in the endings of the Old Regime. Subsequently, the main part studies the reciprocal relation between the Spanish War of Independence and the Spanish nation-building, pointing out the endogenous dimensions of intensification and cleavage drawing in national languages used by the different groups in this period.
