Abstract

The recent works about the Upper Carboniferous successions of the Pisuerga Area have provided coherent interpretations on the complex geology of the region, highlighting the relationships between tectonics and sedimentation. These works have allowed recognising a set of high-quality outcrops, particularly in the eastern sector of Fuentes Carrionas-Fuente Cobre Natural Park. In this paper, four of those outcrops are selected and documented, and proposed as geosites in order to promote the geological heritage and geodiversity of this region. In the future, the touristic attractive and the pedagogical interest of these outcrops and their related landscapes could be managed as an economic resource for the local communities.
