Résumé

Groundwater discharge at the Balneario de Ledesma is thermal (45 °C), whit high concentrations of sulfur and fluoride. According to chemical and isotopic characteristics, and their time evolution, we establish that groundwater flow system is of regional extent and some kilometers deep. Temperature reaches close to 100 °C. Recharge area is located southward, mainly in the zone covered by tertiary deposits, from which groundwater flows north, finally discharging upwards in the point studied, beacause the Juzbado- Penalva do Castelo Shear Zone acts like a impervious boundary.
